The Feminism: Action and Mobilisation for an Inclusive Economy (FAME) project has published its assessment of the needs of feminist civil society organisations (CSOs), a key tool for gaining a better understanding of realities on the ground and for strengthening their work in a sustainable way.

Implemented by an international consortium of feminist and development organisations, the FAME project aims to support and strengthen feminist CSOs so that they can fully play their role in the economic empowerment of women and LGBTQIA+ people, and contribute to a fairer, more inclusive and ecological economic transition. The consortium works simultaneously on access to funding, capacity building and the networking of local organisations.

From this perspective, the assessment was designed as a tool for listening and collective analysis, intended to identify the main challenges faced by feminist CSOs whether organisational, technical, financial or contextual and to define support priorities adapted to the diversity of contexts. It also seeks to improve the alignment between the needs of feminist CSOs and the support mechanisms made available to them.

Based on a participatory approach combining surveys, qualitative exchanges and feedback workshops, this assessment highlights organisations that are deeply committed and innovative, yet often confronted with structural constraints that limit their ability to consolidate and sustain their actions: access to stable funding, professionalisation of teams, governance structuring, digital transition, security and institutional recognition.

This assessment therefore constitutes a reference tool for strengthening the impact and sustainability of feminist CSOs, and for fostering collective reflection on fairer, more inclusive support practices that are better adapted to realities on the field.
