41 feminist organizations funded by FAME take part in project launch workshops in Lomé, Rabat and Cotonou!

Between December and January 2025, the selection committees of the FAME project’s first Call for Proposals for Benin, Togo and Morocco awarded grants to 41 feminist organisations to carry out projects aimed at supporting economic empowerment of women and LGBTQIA+ people, at strengthening the structuration of their organisations.

In addition to financial support, the FAME project, financed by the Agence française de développement, offers technical support to build the capacities of civil society organizations and enable them to enhance their impact and sustainability. The project is also based on a logic of collaboration and networking, where exchanges, experience sharing and the creation of synergies are at the heart of the approach to move toward an inclusive and ecological transition.

In April, three workshops were organized with civil society organizations in the capitals of these three countries to kick-start the momentum :

15, 16 and 17 April 2025 at the Agora Senghor, Lomé, Togo

Les 22, 23 et 25 avril 2025 à l’Hôtel SOSSA, Cotonou, Bénin

22, 23 and 25 April 2025 at the Sossa Hotel, Cotonou, Benin

22 and 23 April 2025 at the Hotel Diwan, Rabat, Morocco

The program of the workshops included exchanges and capacity-building to structure project management :

– Getting to know each other better, identifying synergies: the first day began with a workshop to better understand where, how, with whom and on what each CSO was working, in order to create affinities and initiate a process of partnership and exchange: together we’re stronger!

“This workshop allowed us to break out of our isolation and realize that we share many common challenges. We came away with ideas, connections, and above all, energy.”

– Adopt the tools proposed by FAME to monitor and evaluate project results; showcase actions; share experiences and learnings; ensure rigorous administrative and financial management.

“The training really helped us to get to grips with the various processes to adopt, and they are much clearer. It’s absolutely essential to take small steps during the first few months to ensure that everything progresses as it should!”

– Take advantage of the support provided by Geres and the FAME consortium: tailor-made day-to-day support for teams, online and face-to-face training tailored to their needs, capacity-building by doing and sharing.

“I’m very satisfied with the training and really appreciate the fact that Geres and AFD are committed to supporting technically the CSOs they fund”.

In all three countries, participants were active in sharing their knowledge and experience, and rich exchanges took place so that everyone could make the tools their own. A great collective energy to meet the challenges ahead and work towards an ecological and inclusive transition!
